Terms of use

These guidelines are obligatory for every user of this board.

Prologue:

The official Theatre of Tragedy band board is a service which is completely maintained and financed by private persons. Subscription and participation are free. This board is a platform to discuss about one of our favourite Bands - Theatre of Tragedy.
To keep a friendly and comfortable atmosphere for everybody, it is important to follow some rules which should actually go without saying for everybody - so please take some time to read our guidelines thoroughly!


The following terms and conditions as well as any special guidelines of the subforums are obligatory for everybody:


The Band

Band Decisions

Do you really think, a band makes severe decisions just for fun and out of a mood? We don't. So please accept that. Of course you are welcome to ask questions about a certain aspect, as well as criticism is all right, if you some constructive arguments. But we don't need and we don't want flamewars and threads which have been created just to insult the band members. It is only the artists' choice to change things or not. If you find this unacceptable, nobody forces you to buy their stuff. But we expect tolerance and politeness towards their decisions.

Liv Kristine

We are fans of Theatre of Tragedy. So we don't want topics about Liv Kristine or her projects on this board, as she is no longer a member of the band. This is not meant to discriminate against her, but to prevent emotional and insulting discussions, as we experienced them too often. If you have the need to discuss about her, please use her homepage as the appropriate platform.

Illegal filesharing, unofficial merchandize and bootlegs

...are not allowed in this board, or you will be banned immediately.



Basic and Legal

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, pornographic, profane, racist, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

Fake identities are not allowed and can lead to a ban. Fake identities can be for example the imitation of another natural or legal person. Duplicate registrations are as well considered as a fake identity and can lead to an immediate ban.

By registering on our board you agree to save personal data due to the german law (§ 3 Abs.1 TDDSG and § 12 Abs.2 MDStV) on our system.

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of their authors, not necessarily the views of this board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.



Active Participation

Humans are to be treated like humans. An appropriate writing style as well as a readable layout are important to us. We won't tolerate the following, neither via PM nor in public:

- personal insults
- slandering about the band, users, moderators and administrators
- advertizing for own or foreign homepages
- postings just agreeing to a previous one without any arguments
- completely senseless postings
- postings just containing the suggestion to use the search function or another topic without any suitable links or quotes.



Conflict Management

Within a community like this one it is possible that conflicts between users might come up. In general we want you to try solving them privately with the other person. Only if this is impossible, a moderator or administrator should be asked for taking measurements. Public denunciations are not tolerated here.



Board Structure

Our board consists of several subforums. So please take care to write into the appropriate one. Postings to a certain topic should be written in only one thread, don't open a new one if something has been discussed already! Some subforums have a pinned thread with special guidelines regarding the certain forum. There are some more obligatory rules you accept automatically by posting there. It is the moderators' job to maintain the clearness of their forums. There is no legal claim of closing or reopening a thread, as this is done at the discretion of the administrators or the forum's moderator.



Instructions from Administrators and Moderators

Administrators (Master of Tragedy and GoldhamsterOfDeath) as well as moderators participate in this board as a regular member. If a problem occurs, please use the report button to ask the moderator of the matching forum for help. Upcoming problems with a moderator should be reported to one of the administrators.

Official directions from administrators or moderators will be marked as such, if they aren't already obvious from their content (for example, the request to stop a certain behaviour) and have to be followed cogently. These can be given public or via PM/Email. Thus, you always have to pay strict attention to PMs and mails from administrators or moderators.
Any violations will result in an increase of the warning level between 10% and 100%. If a warning level of 80% is reached you will be assigned to the "last chance" user group with several restrictions - e.g. we restrict the use of the PM function and moderate each of your postings. A warning level of 100% will result in an immediate ban.
If a banned user should try to register again under a new username, we will contact his or her ISP and take appropriate actions, which can result in a total blocking of the internet access.
It is completely in the discretion of the moderating team and the administrators to decrease a warning level or unban a user after a certain time.

Moderators and administrators have among others the following rights and obligations:

- move threads and postings
- close threads
- edit topics, if the title is not obvious enough.
- edit texts (e.g. capslock, postings written comletely in bold or italic letters, remove inappropriate parts etc.)
- warn and ban users
- edit bad taste user profiles



Advertisement on the Board

Advertisement is not allowed at all, neither in threads nor in signatures or via PM. We consider the following as advertisements:

- selling goods or services of any kind - no matter what.
- the excessive advertising of your own or foreign websites

Exceptions are:

- public links to websites, if they are suitable to a certain topic and help to answer a question.
- your own private website in your profile.



Graphics and Smilies

Smilies can be used in messages to express your feelings or emphasize statements. Excessive use should be ommited as they have a negative influence on loading time and readability of the board.



Signatures

Your signature shouldn't be longer than 5 lines, otherwise it will be cut down.
Do not use graphics larger than 32x32 pixels in your signature. In case of doubt ask the administrators or moderators.
