I'm not sure if we've had this discussion lately, but I couldn't find the thread anywhere..

what do YOU want the new ToT-cd to be like?

One of the things that really irritated me about Musique was the lack of lyrics..
I want them inte the booklet damnit!
I don't want to sit in front of the computer to be able to follow the lyrics..
and don't say: "print them out", because it feels so cheap to read plain boring A4 papers..

and, please, cut down on the choruses!
Yes, I was also quite disappointed when I bought the Cd of MUSIQUE and could not find the lyrics in the booklet. What makes then the difference between buying a CD and copying it from someone else?. I thought that there had to be an explanation(forget the lyrics and pay attention to the musique??). I don't know, anyway...
What's so important about lyrics anyway? It's usually just a pretentious git rambling on about non-sensical bollocks.

The lyrics are important to define the songs, but I guess you went for "repeat the chorus so many times that noone can miss which song it is"
Well, this is my opinion. I don't know how I want it to be. I mean, I think that what I am always searching in a piece of "art" is its capacity to surprise me. I want the artist to show me something I have never known, something I have never heard of. So the artist's task is quite difficult. I think that I(we) cannot ask for something I(we) do not know. Therefore, the real artist should make music(books, movies, pictures,...) that nobody asks for. That's my view.
One last question: What do I have to do in order to quote what someone else has written?I tried with PAZ words, but I had to do it copying his words myself...

Thank you PAZ! I am so useless with PCs. The problem is that I first picked the reply button and then tried to Quote. Anyway, what do you think about my lack of expectations for ToT's(or for whoever's) next work?.
I agree with you in the matter of the lyrics. Maybe Raymond is thinking about the lyrics as sounds(music indeed), more than in the lyrics as carrying meanings or ideas which could be drawn without singing them(for instance, reading them in the booklet of the CD). Do you know what I mean? Am I right, Raymond?
It's really more of a mental thing, I think. I usually don't really read through the lyrics, but I do get the occasional whim to, which happened with Musique, when it gets to the point that I'm somewhat curious as to what exactly the band's singing about. Once I find that out, it kinda gives the songs a "second wind", at least for me, because it's also a new way of looking at the songs. I mean, yeah, I can just pop something in my CD player and go along with it at first, but once those CDs start getting "old" or "overplayed", then I turn to the liner notes. Make sense?

I think the most important reason to include lyrics is because -- well, I don't know if I'm just hard of hearing, but most CDs, regardless of quality, have a song or two where it's difficult to make out the lyrics and you have to read them to find out what the vocalist is singing about. Unfortunately, I don't have a more Earth shattering reason for wanting lyrics with the CDs other than making out lyrics which I can't make out audibly

Well, I don't care if a Spanish band don't include the lyrics in the CD, but I want them within if they sing in a foreign language such as English.

Even if the lyrics are in a foreign language, it's still nice to have the lyrics. Some people just like to see the words, and figure out what they can piece together, and some go as far as to get the lyrics translated (I know if I knew someone who spoke Norse, I would certainly have gotten all of the Burzum lyrics and liner notes translated).

Hey, lyrics is important but, let say if one haven't heard of ToT before, and sudenly come across on MUSIQUE, maybe they are wondering on how to find the lyrics and they can go to the official TOT WEBSITE!!
don't this can promote the band's website ???

Err..most bands include a URL for their official site somewhere on their liner notes. I think that's something along the lines of what you were trying to imply, but I'm not really too sure...
