Damn, I've just read the news, it really is sad :( But I thank the band for all the amazing & beautiful music though all the years. The London show is my first (and it seems maybe last) Theatre of Tragedy gig, I hope to make Stavanger in October.
Hail to the bitterness.

I've just read the news on the site. I'm shocked to say the least. It makes me feel so lucky to be going to see them for the first and last time next week in london.

I'd just like to say thank you ToT for helping me become the artist I am now. Throughout the 6 years I've been a fan of this amazing band who have not only taught me to push the boundaries of music, but to be open to many different things/ideas/styles. I hope that one day I can pull off as amazing material as you guys. If it wasn't for these guys I wouldn't be who I am now. Thanks for being such an important part of my life.

I'd also like to say thank you to the amazing people I've met on this forum throughout these 6 years. You guys really opened my eyes to a lot of things. Hope we don't lose touch

A DVD is most likely! See the latest news...

Love is more than simply being open to experiencing the anguish of another person's suffering.
It is the willingness to live with the helpless knowing that we can do nothing to save the other from his pain.

Does this mean there will be a live CD with it too? I mean, I know a DVD-Audio rip will eventually happen as a resault - either way I'm buying it, it would just be great to have a live CD with it - hearing Nell's adaptations of all those classic songs...and just to hear them one last time!

Whatever, as long as there is an audio cd going with the video disc: my iPod needs it! *-*

Wait...wait , this band is breaking up and before even coming to the USA? Bah humbug. Oh well, I liked the music ( at least first few albums , that kinda techno/industrial sound thing didn't really do it for me) and I hope you guys got good stuff in the future, thanks for the time and effort you guys put in !

I can not believe this, I am so upset by the news that Theatre Of Tragedy are ending! I first discovered Theatre Of Tragedy back in 1998 and have loved your music ever since. The first album of yours I ever got was the brilliant Aegis. Yeah over the years you guys have been through some changes in band members and musical style but i have stuck with the Theatre and I am glad that I did. I also have to mention that Forever Is The World is definitely one of your best albums and I would say one of 'the' best gothic albums of any band out there. I really hope I can catch your UK show in March!!! So finally I have to say that Theatre Of Tragedy are, and will always be one of my favourite bands. To all the members of Theatre Of Tragedy past and present, thank you for the great music you have given us over the years and I wish you all the best for whatever your future plans are and wish you success and happiness in whatever your lives bring. Embrace The darkness!!!

I'm hungry...

may i ask why they decided so - apart from families and so on?
cause i just don't think they have nothing else to say with their great music...
especially after Forever Is The World...

well, anyway, its 17 years, wow, thanks a lot for everything dudes!
i wish you could come for one last gig in Athens tho...

Sad...

Unfortunately everything ends... This band is so talented, so intense and dramatic that it´s hard to accept they won´t present us with new songs... I guess this coming end make the music they composed even more precious... I hope to have the chance to see them in June, in Sao Paulo, since i´m in Brazil...

Please tell me this isn't true!! :( I saw ToT the 13th of March and I loved the show so much and I was hoping it would never end cuz I knew it would be probably the last time I could see them LIVE.
Maybe.. I can save money and go to one of the other concerts to enjoy them one more time, and hopefully my boyfriend takes his camera with him to film some cool live footage!
I will continue enjoying the ToT Cd's and I hope there will be a ToT reunion in the future to provide us of lots of new beautifull songs.
Can anyone tell me when the DVD is released??

I want to thank Theatre of Tragedy for all the years making such beautifull, intense music.

Hello there,
I've just sign up to the forum, because i want to thank you for your music, i love your music since i've heard your first album (it's a friend of mine who made me discover you). I've bought your second album when it was released, and i've all of your main albums and some (but not all) of your EPs.

I listen to and like a lot of kind of music (classic, rock, blues, jazz, metal, electro,...) and you are my favorite band of all kind of musics. I've saw you first on live on 2002, and then for the storm tour. I'm very sad that tonight will be the last time i see you live. (Yes i'm a french guy)

The musical travel you made during your career is incredible. And you were for me the pioner of several styles of music that are expanded now. I'll continue to listen all of your discography. All my family like your songs, even my sister who don't like metal at all, play some of your songs on piano. I thank you very much for all the music you made. You really deserve to have a bigger success and notoriety than you get.

I understand that it's difficult to you to stop there, i'm sad for you too. I guess you will all continue playing, composing music in other ways. I wish you luck for future to all members of the band.

Tonight will be the last magical moment you'll share with me live.

Big thanks to you all, maybe will i have some autograph for the last tour!
sorry for my poor english,

Yonex

P.S: I hope there will be a DVD like many members of the forum.

It's a real tragedy, no doubt. But maybe we should try to be sad with just one eye only. It is more important to keep them and their music in our hearts. 17 years is a quite long time and something to be proud of - for the band and the fans. Several other bands didn't even manage such a period.

I've been at their first Germany tour in December 1995 and also at their last one in Germany now, March 2010 (and several others during that time, of course). I have never been disappointed or regret a single concert. In my opinion they always delivered a very great show and it was quite interesting to see their development over all the years.

Maybe one should try to see the positive thing in that tragedy. The guys of Theatre of Tragedy are not dead. They just decided for closing down. I'm sure it wasn't easy for them either after 17 years. And who knows, maybe we'll really see or hear the one or the other with an own project again.

I couldn't express it better, Peggy. Very well said.

And also Master and me hope for some future projects from at least a few of the band members. There is a real hole about to gape in our lives...

Seems that these words are true...
I watch new videos from the march show. I wish it could forever be so: I would be able to go to youtube, print title in search, find some new videos and have pleasure time watching them. I definitely need DVD...
:) By the way, Raymond ehh...
I even misheared that he said "God sex" (instead of "acres" in rose for the dead). No: "God sekes", in this way
