I can't imagine it otherwise, unless the band wishes to rewrite history ;)

dvd will mostly be containing footage from the last 6-7 years with the current line up. due to many reasons we are not able to include stuff from previous labels and lineups. we will see what we have lying around and see if we can get the rights to use it but nothing is cleared and knowing the business like i do it might be only one thing that can resolve it and that is the mighty € and that is something we would rather use on the live dvd production.

we had a professional camera man with us on the european tour and he will compile stuff from that (day to day touring stuff and general bullshit) and we did the whole barcelona show with both film and sound so we can see if we include something from there. plus the whole of the folken gig will be filmed with multicameras etc...

Will there be footage of the Stavegener gig?

EDIT (just read the latest interview with Lorentz). Oh, Folken is the name of the venue at Stavenger. Oops. :P

Cool!

Sad day for me

Goth bands from the early 90s and old style horror movies are an important part of my life and my memories from high school. Tot is my favorite band and is a sad day for me because from now on I will have to live with the idea that every media creator that I admire is not longer creating media. When I listened to “frozen” for the first time I felt like a part of my past was reborn and now I have to live with this 
A tot fan…

Hello I am
sorry that have announced their retirement, since they are my favorite
band. There
will be no one like you guys. They have talent for writing real music. Is sad for me because my ears may not hear again. Album Storm is my favorite. ;(

I've always had more of a realistic approach to all of this, which is why way back in 2004 I was ecstatic to hear that TOT would continue with Nell and start working on a new album because I didn't expect it at all. Neither did I expect to get another album in 2009. To have all this great music is a gift, which is why I won't be sad. It's quite selfish to expect them to go on and on and on and on. Of course it would be wonderful, but hey, that's not how the world turns and I'd rather have them end it on a spiritual and artistic high than continue doing music while their minds are occupied with more important things. ;)

I'll always have the music and the memories, nobody will take that away from me. TOT have written Metal history, we got 7 studio albums and various EPs, they've toured across the globe, they've created a whole genre and style, things which a lot of bands will never be able to achieve.

a band that easily bounces from doom to cheap goth to electro and later goes back to the safe and lucrative metal, deserves not to exist anymore.

Thanks for that unqualified comment.
It's ok if you don't like their development but I don't think you can judge what they deserve or don't.

It's a troll, Peggy, not worth discussing with. Such people seem to have perverted pleasure when they succeed in annoying people ;)

Greetings from Chile!
I am extremely shocked with the announcement of the ending of 17 wonderful years. They have accompanied me in many important moments of my life, with their poetry and music that really got into my heart.
Guys, thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart, for the wonderful moments I spent listening to every single song you created, I will never forget you. I wish you the best in every single step you will take in your lives and be sure that every decission you make, it's from your heart.

Blessings.

Thoughts

Hey all, been a fan for around 10 years now (sadly not for the full 17 years, but not but choice, just a little too young back then!).

So, more of thoughts rather than questions to the band, I suppose.

I always thought ToT would be around forever, but as they say, nothing lasts forever. Everyone interested in the genres they have been and crossed into seem to know of them, so why did they never make it right to the top, in terms of fame, record sales etc.?

Growing up and growing older is made easier by seeing it happen to a band you admire, in some ways you are not alone, but with the Theatre closed, I guess we are on our own now. To not hear of how any of them are getting on anymore and to look back years down the line to think "wow, that was 30 years ago." is such a cold thought.

I do wonder how they managed to keep in their jobs while going on tours etc. And they all seem rather happy or content about going back to everyday life and work. But I guess that is necessity rather than choice. When you've lived the band lifestyle and had a hunger for it, surely settling into ordinary life again is so hard.

I love the fact that different types of music was explored, because while change indeed may be scary, it is inevitable. We must all progress.

I know that I had so much to say, but most of it evades me right now, never before have I really wrote about a band, but ToT was part of my development, my growing up, my exploration into the world. Oh, and not to mention they all come across as genuine and decent people, which doesn't hurt one bit to the liking of the band!

I wish the band would remain "inactive" rather than "over". Hey, at least then there's a hope...

I really hope to hear from them all in future, if not to reunite the band, or to come up with more musical ideas, or even just to be active on the internet as themselves.

Thanks guys (and ladies!) for the great times and music. I wont and can't say that I'll remember you, because that means you'll be gone, and I know you never really will be.

Take care all,

-me

After a while since I've visited or posted anything in the forum, and the first news i heard is that they're gonna breakup soon. totally shocking news. ToT music influence almost everything in my life. The first album i heard is Aegis at the age of 15 in the year 2000. I became a graphic designer now because of ToT. back in early 2000's i learned photoshop because I wanna enter the Creative Competition. Starting from there, I knew that I wanna become a graphic designer, and now I am a graphic designer.

I 've won 2 times in the creative competition, that's really make me very happy. Unfortunately I didnt get my prize for the second winning. I know its not ToT fault becoz all the prize postage is handled by AFG music at that time. I'm really sad bout that matters and really am until now :(

and the worst part is that I realized that I can't get to meet them playing live ever in my life.. The pain that I have to bear until eternity.

last curtain

i am truly upset to see them break up. Ive been a loyal fan since i first went to germany and was introduced to them. I was instantly hooked after that that i even sent them a letter and was over joyed when raymond reponded personally. not only did he answer every single question i have asked but even sent everyone's autographs. I truly wish I could have seen them here in the united states. that is one of my biggest regrets of not ever seein them. I wish all band members the best of luck and hope to stay in touch with you!!

It's completely sad to know that Theatre of Tragedy is coming to an end but that doesn't mean that we can't listen to their music anymore or something like that... I will enjoy their music just as I did 6 years ago.

And after meeting the band and going to a concert I think my love for Theatre of Tragedy's music is still bigger. So even though that we won't be able to listen to some new songs or seeing more live shows we had many things to enjoy from them, and that will last forever.
