Speaking of DVD's, does anyone else have a problem with the brightness fading in an out on certain DVD's? One of my bandmates has that happen with one of the Monty Pythons and I've had that problem with every DVD I've played save Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Are you using a Sony DVD player by any chance? I've been having the same problems, and it's really pissing me off, because I just got the My Dying Bride DVD, and every time I watch it, it looks like shit because of this?!
Yeah, the software in a PS2 isn't really the same as a regular DVD player's, and therefore, hardly ideal for such a purpose.
If you look at the bottom surface of their game disks as compared to the bottom surface of a DVD, you'll see that these are obvioulsy two different types of disks, with different encoding, and so forth.
Sony can make good walkmans, computers, and the like, but their DVD players, from what I've seen, are shit. Usually, I just use the DVD-ROM drive in my laptop, and it works fine, but there's only four DVDs I ever played on it.
