When and how did everyone first get into ToT? For me it was relatively short time ago in the big picture, only about a year ago. I was talking with a friend and we were recommending music back-and-forth to each other. He told me to try 'Black as the Devil Painteth' and 'Machine', and noting the contrast between them. they were the first two ToT songs I heard, and have been a huge fan since. It's funny because I'm so much more of a fanatic then he is now. He mainly listens because he's in love with Liv  and I'm constantly suggesting stuff to him now

Well, I was getting more and more inte the whole gothmetal genre... But I didn't know what bands that played the music I wanted.

So, I took a catalog from a synth/goth mailorder company, and basically went over every CD that was described as "gothmetall" and I could find in the record store and I listened to them.

Three band made big impressions on me, Paradise Lost (One Second), Tiamat (A Deeper Kind Of Slumber) and then there was TOT that I listened to (Velvet Darkness They Fear)... It had a TERRIBLE male singer, but a lovely female, so I looked after other records by the same group and found AEGIS. And behold, the guy had learned to SING! And I got that album, and loved it.

When Musique was released I was suprised, but I did love it too, after a while. I will probably give "VDTF" another chance, someday, but I happen to like a clean voice that is actaully singing and not grunting;)

An ex girlfriend got me into ToT. Guess bad things always have some sort of good turnout.

my friend got me into them. in one of our classes together she would always listen to her music and she let me listen to some of the stuff, mostly goth and jrock, and i think the first song i heard by them was Lorelei and then i checked them out later and loved them.

my brother's girlfriend lent me Aégis, and said that she thought I'd like it..

I listened to it constantly for weeks. I almost got allergic to it, but I couldn't stop listening. Nowadays I can only hear it once a month or something... I ruined it ;(
I bought the other albums, and I longed for the day when they'd release another one.
I came here, listened to some samples, and thought they were ok, so I bought musique, but I didn't like it.
...you mean...it gets old??? lol I've been listening to it at least a few times a week since at least June. I still love it...if that album ever gets to the point where I don't want to listen, I don't know what I'll do.

I've always listened to Rock, Gothic, Hard Rock (Let's keep it at this).

I got this url from a mate at work here in Denmark, we are booth Norwegian. He said that it was a shame that Theatre Of Tragedy were almost unknown back in Norway. I said what kind of music are these, he showed me this site. And from the first moment I looked at the Image video I were hooked.
Per se verabo.......

I just searched on the word gothic + music on the net.
Followed a hit to a guy who had made a list of his favourite goth bands.
From there I got to this page and was hooked.

Saw one of their Aégis gigs on tv. I was so impressed by this angel singing there that I had to go to a store and buy it the very next day. After listening to Aégis for some days I ordered Velvet darkness and their debut and a new fan to gothic metal was born :) Thanks guys and girl:)

I got into them... hmmm, let's see... as far as I remember, it was during some vacation... I was 13 then and I was studying for exams... I was bored of listening to all the things I'd got with me, so I needed something completely new...

I first fell in love with "ToT" when I heard the song "Seraphic Deviltry" off of a Century Media sampler. I had always wanted to listen to the band because, and this sounds kind of funny but....I just liked the name of the band "Theatre Of Tragedy". It was an appealing name. Now I can't stop listening to them...I'm addicted!!!

I'm hungry...

I Just downloaded every album from DC - nice source...
I heard the name some months ago when I last saw my bro (he is a famous (in Athens) underground quitar player) I told him like 'When is this guy (his friend) going to give me my Theatre back (Meaning my Dream Theatre 'Images and Words' Vinyl)?? And he replies 'Theatre? You mean Theatre of Tragedy?' and I said 'no I mean DREAM Theatre!!!'... And this is not really all, but I'm hungry now and my memory is bad when I'm hungry...
The first song I heard was Cassandra from Aegis... Fucking amazing song (like all the album of course)...

I had a friend who moved to Australia from Norway, and he introduced me to TOT. I am very grateful he did! Thanks, Roar!
