Last curtain call...

I guess this is something to talk about. :(
So if anyone wants to say anything about this most recent news... please post it in this thread.

Love is more than simply being open to experiencing the anguish of another person's suffering.
It is the willingness to live with the helpless knowing that we can do nothing to save the other from his pain.

What the... has the band confused March 1st with April 1st? :|
Isn't this a bad idea to announce the end of the band before the live shows?

I'm still in the stage of denial. Maybe Hein will finally give me the stems? :P

No, I think it's fair. As it is the last chance for fans to see them live.

Btw, we will personally be attending the final gig on October 2nd in Stavanger. This gig will be quite special and the tears have to be drowned with lots of Alcohol.

It's not possible.... Oh no why !! It's like the death of a dear person... I just can't believe it... I'm so disapointed I just can't say anything else.

I can understand your disappointment.
You know we've gone through this a while ago already and yes, it's really sad.
But time will heal everything and the last shows will definitely be something very special and shouldn't be missed.
The music will live on...

This is very sad news. I'm glad I'll get to see the band at least once before the end, but it'll be a bittersweet show since I know it'll be the last time.

Thank you for all the wonderful music you've given to us, ToT.

I have to say how sad I am the Theatre ends. This music was the soundtrack to my failures and successes in life. This was the music I listened to when I changed school, during all exams at the university (especially Storm simply brought me luck), when a girl treated me like garbage, when a best friend did not share my feelings for her and when she left the country... before the 2008-2009 new year's eve party (and there would be ToT music at the party, if I wouldn't leave the specially prepared CDR at home :P), which was one of the best parties I ever had, despite loosing consciousness for the most part of it :D

So yeah, this is very sad news. And the windy, grey and rainy weather already made me feel kind of depressed this morning... I wish I could see ToT perform live :(

And now I am being really serious: sharing the stems to FiTW, or at least a few random songs (so people still buy the album and not download it - but not many people are tech savvy enough to mix the stems, anyway), would be a great thing that would keep ToT alive not only in our hearts and speakers. Me making a remix/remaster, others trying their best with remixes and revisions... I'd like to hear an honest opinion about this from the band members, preferably not only from Hein, but from others too ;)

As sad as it is, somethings have to end, so new things can start. All the best to everyone at Theatre of Tragedy - I understand it was a hard decision and I respect it.

Anyone who sees the band live - take photos, movie clips, get drunk with the band, and report back here ;)

It is a sad but I understand that the reasons fans are just sentimental, while for the band must have other motivations. I can only say thanks for everything, is hard to imagine a beautiful music (thank you for making it happen).
I would like someone particular information about the concert canceled in Madrid: the Spanish promoter (Scary noise) said that, finally, the concert will be held in Madrid, but the official site still reads that the concert will be in Bilbao (although the Rock Star bilbao room has another concert scheduled for that day).
It is impossible for fans going to a concert is canceled, please clarify this issue.

Thank you!

I've been pondering this all day whilst listening to the albums and i'm genuinely devastated.
The band have had such an impact on my life both personally (my partner shared my love of the band and we bonded over their music) and musically. The material never ceases to amaze or inspire me and i feel truly blessed to have found this band and to have followed them for so long. Through highs and lows the music has been a constant companion for me.
My first experience of the band was seeing the video for "Image" on a late night music channel back in 2000. "Musique" was my first purchase of the band and as everyone knows it has remained my firm favourite album. "Aegis" is seriously the most beautiful gothic album i've ever heard.
I wish the band all the best and thank them wholeheartedly.

PS: Stems for Soulburner... please? ^^

You all can imagine that for me this is also a pretty major change and I'm not sure what impact it might have in the future.
I have maintained this website since 14 years in October and went through ups and downs, wouldn't have met my wife GoldhamsterOfDeath without the band, have put a lot of work, sweat and tears in this website but also had a lot of fun doing so most of the time. Of course there were also times of disappointment and frustration.
But a lot of myself is in this website too and I never would've received the name Master of Tragedy without this.
;(

14 years of my memories are attached to the band and this website. I have met a lot of people through this site that I even can call friends now.
The LK-hassle was a bit exhausting in the last few years though.

It's probably better to put Theatre of Tragedy to an end in this form.
I guess we will surely hear from some band members again in other projects in the future.

I'm not as sad as I expected me to be, still I don't know what to say. I appreciate this honest statement and I hope the decision will bring a happy future to all the band members. And this is to the band directly, maybe some of you read this:

Thank you very much for every single song and most of all for opening my mind :) .

Now it is official. And as mentioned before it’s really very sad.

I also have a lot of memories and went through different positive and negative moments since 1995. Theatre of Tragedy has influenced an important part of my life, too.

Usually you say something like “You should stop things when they are on top.” (Sorry, don’t know the exact English phrase.)

So, I have to accept the decision and respect it of course.
Family has the highest value in life.

I thank Theatre of Tragedy for all their work in the past, for always being kind and always remaining down to earth as well as their fan contact. Thanks.

I wish all of them satisfaction and happiness in their private life and hope they remain as they are and that they will go their way.

Theatre Of Tragedy was not only a band but an entity to me, and I was in love with it because it was the expression of my inner feelings... The songs were all me, and I know there will never be an other band that will bring me in this mood. Of course I can understand their decision, but i'm wondering : what could I like that much now :(

You can still continue to like the music they have created.

Maybe we all should meet each other at the last gig in Stavanger in October?
Some kind of last forum user meeting and we could all say farewell to the band in person and have a drink with them or two.

I hardly can find words to comment the worst news Earth could ever imagine, but I dare to ask:
-make please DVD!
-Maybe band will make some concerts closer to Russia in summer? Helsinki, maybe? or Ukraine?

Forever be Theare of Tragedy music...

I couldn't agree more. As much stuff as possible spanning the entire 17 years would be fantastic. :D
